A Bit About Us

The Higher National qualifications are aimed at learners who want an alternative route to a degree.

Higher Nationals follow a familiar structure to that of the BTEC level 3 programmes, which most students will have completed prior to joining. The Higher National Certificate and Higher National Diploma replace the first and second years of university with an optional third year to top up to a Bachelor’s degree in either Sports Coaching and Development or Sport and Exercise Science. You will also have advice and guidance on how and when to apply to transfer to a recognised university if you wish to do so.  

Here at the Fowler Academy, we are committed to providing engaging learning and the introduction of the Higher Nationals allows us to continue to do this for our students right through to the achievement of a degree. Some of our students will join us at 16, in year 12, and leave us at 21 with a recognised Bachelor’s degree. It also allows students to continue their development in football, being able to continue their football programme during the HNC year of their studies.
