Brian McGorry – Principal

Brian McGorry is a former English professional footballer and an accomplished educator who has served as Principal of the Robbie Fowler Education & Football Academy (FEFA) since its formation in 2015. Born in Liverpool in 1970, McGorry enjoyed a diverse and committed playing career as a midfielder, representing clubs across the English Football League and non-league system.

Alongside his playing career, Brian completed a degree in Sports Science and later achieved a master’s degree, laying the foundations for his post-football career in education, training and performance development.

In 2015, McGorry partnered with Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler to co-found the Robbie Fowler Education & Football Academy, created to offer young people an innovative pathway combining elite-level football coaching with high-quality academic qualifications. As Principal, he has been central to shaping the academy’s educational ethos, coaching structure and growth strategy. Under his guidance, FEFA has expanded its programmes, built strong partnerships with local and national organisations, and delivered impressive results on and off the pitch—including national titles and international tournament success.

McGorry is recognised for championing a dual-career model for young players, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to develop both as an athlete and as an individual prepared for higher education or a broad range of careers in sport. His leadership emphasises personal development, professional standards, performance science, and creating genuine pathways into football, university, coaching, health, and fitness industries.

Today, Brian McGorry continues to lead FEFA with the same commitment and vision that defined his playing career—providing opportunities, raising standards and helping young people reach their potential through a blend of education, sport and character development.

Andy Allen has served as Assistant Principal of the Robbie Fowler Education & Football Academy (FEFA) since its launch in 2015, playing a key role in shaping the academy’s academic excellence and learner experience. A dedicated and innovative educator, Andy has been instrumental in developing FEFA’s high-quality sports education programmes and supporting students to achieve both academically and personally.

His commitment to teaching and learner development earned him national recognition when he was nominated for the prestigious Pearson FE Teacher of the Year award—reflecting his impact in the further education sector and his passion for helping young people reach their potential.

With a strong background in sport, education and curriculum leadership, Andy continues to drive FEFA’s standards, ensuring every learner benefits from a supportive, challenging and aspirational environment.
